I would like to know if anyone has ever used an email blast and what your results were. I have a company that will sel me a list for rent (or rent me a list)  only for $400. and that includs 2 emails. Is that a good price? Did you ever have a good sucess rate for this type of thing? What is the precentage of sucess i can expect from this? i understand that a .05 precentage is good and if thats the case then I would do ok. sorry about the spelling never was to good. thank you

I was wondering this as well, has anyone tried this method of advertising? I imagine it would be expensive up front but could pay off big in the end. There are several companies who offer this (admittedly I have researched this myself) and it seems fairly reasonable for the coverage you get. I would love to hear from anyone who has tried this in the past. Anyone care to share? Thanks.

So has no one used an email blast or do they just don't care to contribute? I was just thinking that a well placed email blast would be somewhat profitable given the proper demographics that it is sent to. I could be wrong but before I invest $450.00 I was hoping someone could give me some advice on the matter. I really don't want to invest my money if it is not going to pay off in the long run. I appreciate your honesty.

Generally, 80% of the emails in a blast will not be opened.

But still, 20% of 10,000 is still a nice audience to pitch to, no?

Heck yeah.  2000 impressions for $450.  How good is the list?  If it's just general emails, figure 35 to 40% dog owners.  700-800 pet owners open your email.  How good is your ad copy?  2.5 percent contact you and 1% buy?  7 or 8 customers for a $450 investment.  $55 to $65 per customer acquired.  That's a pretty decent ROI if you can hang on to 'em.

Good point, Pete. Perhaps I will start saving my pennies for an email blast. $450 is a lot to gamble but then again, life's a gamble, no?

Yeah, no guts, no glory.  You need to take some risks.  Underthink the risks and you get burned.  Overthink 'em and you never get started.  Where is the balance point between being a risk taker and a daredevil?

After 7 plus years I'm still looking for that point.
The "RealYellow pages" called today. I always ask which "Real" yellow pages are they and will they gaurrantee my ad will work. It's always very quiet on the other end of the phone with that question. Even tho thier publication is the perfect fit for my business, yeah right.

Pete, between you and me, you seem to give some real nuggets of wisdom. I would love to pick your brain sometime...perhaps with a nice Chianti and some farvre beans. (forgive my misspellings, I'm a product of today's society).
