When I first started I contacted several real estate agents about my service. I gave them brochures and they include it is their packets they give to new home owners. We I had meeting with them I discuss how my service would be beneficial for home sellers and buyers.  Open houses ect...  I have received a lot of business this way. I have one that calls me before every open house she has with sellers that owns dogs.

this 50 degrees temp. in northern ohio is coming at absolutely the right time. Snow is melting, ads are places, and phone is starting to ring.  Next 4 weeks is when i will get new customers and initial clean ups should be plentiful with the 18 inches of snow melting.  hope everyone is getting same feedback in the snowy states.  Good Luck

In central Texas the St. Augustine grass is coming out of dormancy so as people begin to mow my work is picking up.  Just got weekly customer number 10 in 3 months and I'm excited for myself and grateful to the pro's here.

I don't know if this would qualify as a rush but I've had two people inquire of my services without me even advertising (except for the signs on my truck). The first was WAY out of my service area and the second I took a bath on (see previous post). I am preparing to advertise now that Spring is here...my goal is to have one million customers by June. Okay, okay, that was a joke, but I DO hope to be doing well soon.

We have been in business just over two months and snow is still on the ground and they are calling for more but I don't feel we are doing to bad. In the two months we have picked up a 12 property commercial account and 3 or 4 paying customers. We also have a couple of customers we trade with for services, one of those is for advertising and I can only say one word for that trade... PRICELESS!!!

Have had 16 calls on initial clean ups in the past 4 days, 5 of them signed on for new weekly service.  The ads in the local papers have done well.  No complaints at all.  Will advertise two or 3 more weeks then be set for the rest of the year.   Good luck to everyone scooping!  K9 waste service.

WOW, K9, your ads have worked THAT well? That is phenomenal! I will be placing ads next week and I can only hope I do as well as you. Tell me, if you would, did you place ads in the area newspapers or in the local Thrifty Nickel (weekly mailed out to public) publication? Thanks. Wish me luck!

I timed the Ads perfectly to coincide with the warm weather that came through northern ohio and melted the snows.  I was the only ad in the pet services section of our local newspaper.  I run the ad for one month, in both big newspapers, and the smaller local ones serving suburbs to my area.  In my area any new clients to be picked up happen usually end of March, maybe first week of April, then it flattens out.  If i can get 4 or 5 more regulars I will be very happy.  It helps that my competition never runs ads in the newspapers!!!!   Grin....good luck with your new business, it takes time.

Wow K9 that is awesome. I didn't think a newspaper ad would work very good or at all. You must have worded it perfectly. I know its all in the wording for any kind of ad. Can you share your ad with us so it can help us with our ads? I would love to place a "winning" ad. Of course I would change some of the info to fit my locality but the basic general ad wording would really help.
Thanks!

I very wisely allowed the snow to melt following the snowiest February on record for my area.  As a result, I'm getting quite a few signups in March.  Preparation met opportunity.
